When offered a chance to spend time with them, refusal was unthinkable- until she ran into a rugged Adonis with a snarling attitude, but incredible abilities who made her want to do things nice girls shouldn't. Rafe Kutter keeps his heart under lock and key because he has a secret he intends will die with him. There's no way that he wants to pass to a child what he endures daily. But Lindy makes him want things better left hidden deep in his heart. Can it truly be as easy as believing in himself and her? While being a short, pleasant read, I think this could have been expanded into a much more in-depth exploration of such complex characters and why both turned out as the "beings" they are. Kate Steele brings readers a different aspect in shifter romance by using a werebear as opposed to the ever popular lion or wolf shifters. The writing style was good but the plot was thin. I enjoyed watching Rafe and Lindy fall in love but wish there had been more of a story to tie in with it. Rafe's fear of loving and having children was easily resolved and didn’t leave much after that for the story to continue. However having said that, readers will still be entertained in this quick short love story.
