This story within a story concerns opposites in the world of Fae Rhy—the Cheer Givers and the Mischief Makers. Both are bound by duty to interact with humans on every holiday — the former, by enhancing the holiday; the latter, by undermining it.

Isabelle is a Cheer Giver who enjoys her body. For Valentine's Day, she finds a hunky "Recipient" at a singles club — the romantically unlucky Bryce could benefit from some cheering.
