Although she still loves Slayer, she soon finds herself falling for the handsome, mysterious Shadow, another of the Great Carnivores.

But Slayer is from a family of shape-shifters who are used to having their way and he is determined not only to win Ayanni back, but to make amends for all her hardships. Still, Shadow appears to have the upper hand. More, Shadow is also deeply in love with Ayanni. Things look hopeless for Slayer.
