Most of her heroes are usually these ordinary blue collar Alpha males you expect to pick up from the corner deli. And I've loved everyone of them. Not Didier. Although he came off as elegant and beautiful and unattainable he was refreshingly complicated, yet simple and a hot mess. Ha! He reminded me of Johnny Depp as Edward Scissorshands. You think he's one way on the outside but the true beauty lay in this boyish and somewhat naive way he sees the world and his peculiar way of dealing with it. I would have wished more emotion from the heroine's dialogue with Didier not just inner dialogue, but considering her background I went with it and loved this book. Sure there was sex (this is EC after all), but what did it for me was Didier and Caroly with their faults and yet they still were drawn to each other. I loved that Caroly saw through Didier's beautiful coating and that Didier similarly found things in Caroly she didn't know or couldn't admit to herself. Beautiful story.
