Being in love with your best friend is never anything that you want to have happen, especially when that someone is Charlie Blackwell. He is walking sex, and Lucy well she is like his little sister, only she isn’t having very sisterly thoughts about Charlie anymore. Knowing Charlie as well as she does, Lucy thinks up this plan to get him to see her as something more than just his impromptu sister, but as a forever kind of girl, forever only for him. But will Lucy get just what she wants or will her friendship with Charlie be ruined because of one stupid mistake? Charlie has been miserable for over a year, he has started to grow feelings for Lucy Covington and yet he doesn’t know what to do with these feelings. She keeps sending him mixed signals and he doesn’t want to ruin the friendship that he has come to depend on so much over the years. Getting Lucy into his bed seemed like a good idea at the time, but will crossing that line be too much to come back from if she doesn’t feel the same way as he does, or will he lose Lucy to a night of passion? This was a good quick read that really show cased two friends who were so close they both couldn’t see what the other one was feeling all along. Both Charlie and Lucy had developed feelings for each other but didn’t want to ruin the friendship by taking a chance. It is something that you would see in real life, and Katie Blu really made this short story something fun to read. The HEA was nice, and while expected, still kept me enthralled until the last page. She’s been best friends with Charlie Blackwell since they were children, and their friendship survived the perils of the teenage years. Lucy has also been in love with Charlie since they were teenagers, but has never told him. Instead she comes up with what she thinks is a genius idea; get Charlie to challenge her to sex. But Charlie has to think it’s his idea. When Lucy says that Charlie wouldn’t know how to seduce a woman if he had a color diagram, he takes offense, and the bait. He decides to prove to her that she is dead wrong. What Charlie doesn’t count on is the effect this challenge will have on both of them. Lucy claims all Charlie has to do is give a look and a smile, which in her book doesn’t count as seduction. Once he kisses her things begin to change and in a hurry. Lucy and Charlie both have had feelings that go deeper than friendship for a while, but neither has taken the next step … till now. Will that step ruin a lifelong friendship both treasure or will it lead to a relationship that is deep and abiding and everlasting? Well you’ll have to read this wonderful quickie to find out, but I promise you won’t be disappointed in the outcome. Ms. Blu has created some really lovable characters in Lucy and Charlie and although it’s a short story has tackled the back story for these two really well. Something not everyone can accomplish in a short. I enjoyed the byplay between Lucy and Charlie and will be looking forward to more from Ms. Blu.
