Joanne on 9/14/2011, said: I’m really torn on this one. I really wanted to love this book. The writing is very well done and the author easily drew me into this world. Dalton and Cade were very well rounded characters. I loved that Dalton was that all tough Alpha but that he had a heart too. That made him very sexy and Cade just makes me swoon. Them together made my iPad steam up. ;) Everything is told from an active standpoint that kept me turning the pages. But I had some problems that took away from the experience for me. Erin didn’t feel quite as well rounded, so I couldn’t connect to her. After a while, it began to feel like she was there for their benefit, rather than being a main character in the story. Her story just wasn’t as compelling. I also didn’t understand her reluctance to start the lifestyle. She had a fear of it, of losing control, that just didn’t make sense for how long we spent hashing it out. I could see if she’d gotten raped at some point in her past and the thought of losing control like that made her afraid, but as is, there was no real motivation behind it. There were also a lot of places where the author told instead of showed. Most of them showed up in the form of a sound somebody makes. The author tells us that somebody made a sound and the main character gave their impression of it. Examples were something like, “She made a sound that told him…” But we never actually get to hear the sound, there’s no description of it. And this went for just about every sound someone made. It was something I noticed, because I missed being able to hear it. Every time I found one, I found myself disappointed. Also, about halfway through the book, it began to feel like a lesson in the BDSM lifestyle. The explanations got a little tedious for me. Ragged Edge is more than just a simple D/s or ménage story. It’s a journey of self-discovery, learning to trust and surrender to the unknown. Dalton is the ultimate Dom, he’s sexy as hell, strong, aggressive when needed but also very vulnerable. The more we get to know this “sex on a stick” man, the more we love him unconditionally. The dynamic of this threesome is hotter than hell, addictive and endearing. Beginning this book is a risk for anyone that has something else to do or somewhere else to be…it’s a one-sitting read, a page-turner that sucks you in. Every emotion is spot-on, tugs at the heartstrings and speeds up the heart rate triple time. Each character adds so much to the story, they all jump off the pages with their vulnerabilities and passion but it’s Dalton that really pulls a girl under. He’s like a drug … one I don’t mind being addicted to. RAGGED EDGE is a must read and a definite to always have on hand to enjoy again and again.
