Romancing the Book on 1/14/2012, said: Reviewed by Marissa at Romancing the Book -- First of all, let me say something about the cover of the book. Finally! A man with hair on his chest! Almost every male cover model has a clean, smooth chest yet the story describes the hero with chest hair. I’ve been waiting for this cover model for a very long time. *sigh* Unfortunately, the story did not quite live up to the cover. While the sex was hot (spanking with a cutting board?), the story just didn’t flow. There was no build-up to the initial sex: Diego berates himself for lying to Jordyn every time he’s told her that he loves her like a sister, and then he’s kissing her. There is no segue to get them from Point A to Point B. There is also mention of Jordyn’s father and how his death has affected her, yet there are no details of exactly how he died to explain her fears and hesitation over Diego’s love of the waves. I believe if the story had been a full-length version rather than a Quickie, there would have time to evolve both the characters and the story-line. If all you’re looking for are some titillating sex scenes, this is a great short read; but if you want plot and story-line, I’m afraid you’ll be disappointed.
