Audrey has no trouble achieving orgasms reading erotic romance novels alone in her bed at night. Whether with her fingers or her favorite plastic friend, orgasms are assured. But her last boyfriend labeled her frigid when she failed to be aroused by sex with him.

Now she is madly in lust with a truly delicious work colleague, Yanni. But when they go to bed, nothing happens—she’s devastated that, despite her lust for him, her body refuses to be aroused.

Yanni is determined to romance her until her body cooperates. Maybe some dirty sex talk—and other assistance—will get her aroused!

Reviewed by Stephanie G for Romancing the Book -- It's really frustrating not to be able to orgasm when you're with someone you really really like. It can often be humiliating too, and Audrey can't get herself to explain this to the unbelievably gorgeous Yanni. Maybe he's not Mr. Right after all. Maybe, like her ex keeps telling her, she's a cold, frigid bitch that can't attain satisfaction from anyone. Yanni is a complete gentleman though; he's also a fighter. Audrey is his dream girl—he knows they're meant to be together—but if she keeps bursting into tears every time they try to do something in bed, there's obviously something wrong. After all, the last time Audrey's orgasmed was with her own fingers—and maybe with the help of a battery-powered miracle. It's up to Yanni to make her feel confident with him again, and he promises himself this time around, she won't go home disappointed. Bookish Arousal is a short story, an Ellora's Cave quickie. While I enjoy the simplicity of the dilemma Brown presents, I think 28 pages is not enough to properly develop characters and a plot. It's easy to relate to Audrey because she presents herself as just a normal girl who's captured the attention of an extraordinary guy. Haven't we all felt that with a significant other, sometime in our lives? On the other hand, after a few dates, she declares she's in love with Yanni, and him with her, which is a little farfetched. The sex scenes really aren't that arousing—they're rather plain, in fact—but what makes this novelette worth reading is the conclusion it bears: all women, with the help of a little bit of naughty wooing and tender loving care, can restore their sensuality and be happy with whomever they'd like—but only if they truly try.

While I give Yanni credit for not giving up on Audrey and for his unconventional fix for Audrey's problem, it just wasn't hot. It really didn't do anything for me at all.

I've never been compelled to give a review before, but this book pissed me off. When I read the description I thought, "This is gonna be great - a hot, dirty-talkin' quickie". If I could give it a "0" rating I would. Yanni's character is written as an immature 16-year old. On one hand he calls Audrey "precious" and then proceeds to describe in detail to his friend, Audrey's "tits" and how he was sucking them. I just don't find it sexy to read friends describing their exploits in such detail, even in the context of asking for advice - it's tacky and skanky. As for the talking dirty parts of the book...mediocre at best. I love erotic romance, the hotter the better, but this is about as erotic as a root canal and I wonder how in the world it got published in the first place.
