Brenna’s love for Jase has grown from a crush to a soul-searing need, a painful hunger…and an unrequited ache, because the savagely sexy Texan doesn’t feel the same. A bequest and stipulation in his father’s will have hardened Jase, it seems. Now she must endure three months of living under his roof. Three torturous, tension-filled months and Brenna will have fulfilled the stipulation; will be free to attempt to regain the heart lost to Jase so long ago.

Since the age of eighteen, Jase has protected Brenna—from himself, as much as anyone else. Living with her proves too rousing even for his iron will. He’ll claim what’s his, take Brenna in ways he’d previously only dreamed, sink so deeply inside her luscious body he’ll never find his way out. And be damned if he’ll let her go.

A scorching Texas summer can’t compete with blazing lust as Brenna gives in, gives over, gives all that she is to Jase, to the only man she’s every loved…to the one.

A Romantica® erotic romance from Ellora’s Cave

Sarah's original review was posted at www.romancing-the-book.com. The One is a fast paced, wicked hot short read. Brenna knows the immediate future isn’t going to be the most fun, but she endures what’s coming to make sure Jase gets what she thinks he deserves. She’s been harboring feelings for just about ever and doing what needs doing is extremely hard on her. Jase is about the biggest d-bag when the story starts. He’s horrible to Brenna, but she continues on her path. The chemistry and tension is felt right off the bat with these two, and holy cow is it tense. I felt the story could have been a whole lot longer. Lora Leigh has a way of making a reader want to read on and on forever about her characters and I wanted more.

If you are interested in a short "quickie", than this novella will give you several pulse points of interest. However there were just a few points that will leave you questioning why secondary characters (and the lead male character of Jase) treated Brenna the way they did if they had known her for as long as it is implied in the story. Why would Brenna be labled ***Spoiler*** a "gold-digger" when she had been a part of this family since she was a small child? And Jase being forwarned about the truth, yet still treating Brenna with harshness, not very logical. Overall, I still recommend the book and have no regrets about buying it.

I have read many Lora Leigh novels and this one reads as though it has been written by a novice. The male lead in my opinion is far from desirable and any woman with some semblance of intelligence would have dumped him from the onset. Our heroine suffers from unrequited love, is weak and insipid and spends too much time crying. Our virginal lead though has absolutely no hesitation uttering the 'f' word over and over again during sex which in my opinion, just cheapens the entire act of passion between them. Language, sentence structure and conversation are barely acceptable. And the situation which has forced them together? Just how much disbelief can one suspend?

I expected more from Lora Leigh. I've been a huge fan of hers since day one. They story just felt like she was writing a story because she had to get one done and only halfway put any effort into it.

Ms. Leigh's writing is my only true addiction. I've loved every story of hers that I've read and this one was no exception. It would have made a great plus size novel with plenty of twists and trips to the edge of satisfaction only to be drawn back at the last moment. She could have written it any number of ways. She could have given us indepth knowledge into to the hearts of every character and it would have been GREAT, but torturous. So I'll just say "Thanks for the quickie" you built up the passion and satisfied it with a love that was all we needed.

The writing is fine but it is too short. There is no buy in on the characters and no enough conflict between them to want to get involved.

Like others, I'm a huge Lora Leigh fan. Unlike others I wasn't quite as disappointed as they were. It is a short story, and by definition will leave some holes. It left no holes, it wouldn't be a short story. I think the character development was great and rich and sufficient to establish the romantic part of this story. The sex, classic Lora Leigh! Hot! Hot! Hot! I gave it 4 starts instead of 5 because one loose end that was unnecessary was the role of Miriam. At first it looked like she was the "enemy" to Brenna and Jace. But later on, it appeared that it was all an act. It would have been nice to know the truth. I wasn't disappointed in this story. Most short stories, to my mind, by definition, will have some incompleteness to them.

This felt like a story that should have been full-length. Plot-lines that could have been wonderfully juicy and melodramatic were quickly fizzled out, as though Ms. Leigh started to write a full-length novel and then quickly decided to shorten it. I think what disappointed me the most is that this plot line could have been one of my favorites by Lora Leigh, as in the beginning it had numerous elements that I thoroughly enjoy. Here's hoping she re-visits and extends it at some point down the line.

I love Lora Liegh, but this ebook was disapointing as the plot was fragmented and left unfinished questions about Harold. The sex scenes were her usual hot fare, but the storyline left me unsatisfied. I,m still a great fan, and hope her next book is the Lora Liegh I love.
