Brothers in Arms, Book Eight

Veronica Thomas has been in love with two men since she was seventeen. One introduced her to passion. The other has shown her how to satisfy it. Now that she’s older, she still wants them both. Wolf Tarrant was more than willing to share Very with his best friend and lover, Lord Michael Kensington. But two years ago, Michael ran from the unconventional relationship growing between the three of them.

When Michael returns from America, things have changed drastically for all of them. Rushing headlong into a scorching, passionate reunion may be a bad idea. Michael’s secrets have the power to keep them apart forever, but Very and Wolf have secrets of their own. Held prisoner by their fears, the three struggle to overcome lies and mistrust to find the freedom to love one another as they have always desired.

Another winner from Ms. Kane. I loved this book. My only complaint (and it's a very small one) is that the three aren't actually "together" for as much as the book as I wanted them to be - but I'm a softy. Really, this is a wonderful story. P.S.: I almost didn't buy this book because of Franziska & Julie's reviews below. I suggest you take them with a very large grain of salt. Ms. Kane addresses the plot issues that these two reviewers give terrible spoilers for (don't read the reviews if you don't want it spoiled!) in an appropriate and commendable way. It's great conflict and makes for a del heartbreaker of a romance - and a really terrific happily ever after!

After reading some of the early comments on the book, I was nervous to buy the latest installment of the series. However I have found that I really did like the story. Like all in this series, the characters have to overcome their own fears and struggles in order to be together. I didn't find Michel's story to be offensive or upsetting. I do feel like Very and Wolf forgave Michel a little too quickly (that is why I gave it a 4 stars), but I quite enjoyed to happy ending. Don't listen to the other negative reviews. If you like the previous books in the series, you will enjoy this one as well.

Okay y'all, I actually read this book from cover to cover and I liked it...I didn't love it but I liked it and would recommend it to anyone who wanted a good story with characters who has dimension..**** Spoiler Alert *** Cover your ears if you don't wanna know *** Why are you still reading if you didn't wanna know? *** Okay, here I go. This is what I liked about the story - Very's wit and determination to not not only get her Wolf and Michael, but her plan to keep them. I really enjoyed the story development of Michael and his reasons for doing what he did. I loved catching up with the gang, but I would have loved the storyline about Margaret's adoption to be vetted out a bit more? And let me not forget to mention the smokin' hot sex scenes between Very and Wolf and Very, Michael and Wolf. Wow, can I get a glass o' water!!! Okay, I have to move on now. Here's what I didn't like - I felt incomplete at the end of the story because I didn't feel as if the different veins of the story were really wrapped up. I thought for sure we would find out who was chasing Aurelie but that alas, no such thing. There were a couple of other things (i.e., Mr. James) that I would have liked more detail on but I'm sure that Mrs. Kane is saving for the next book, hopefully ;-) All in all, I would definitely say that this novel was a hit and yes, I would not only recommend it but I'll keep on buying Samantha Kane. Happy reading, fellow readers.

I enjoyed this book very very much :) *Possible Spoiler* I like how Samantha portrayed Very and Wolf. They realized they loved each other and didn't need Michael to make a family. I'm glad she bought more personality to Wolf, he's a very strong character and it showed it here. As far as Michael, we all new he was flaky so don't understand why readers expected more from him. Thanks for the read again Samantha was great :)

Love the series & was looking forward to this book, but I think I had my hopes set WAY to high. I haven't really liked Michael & this book didn't make his character any more likeable for me. It was a good story, I was hoping for great like the previous books.

I totally understand why the rating of this book is all over the scale - I think I have been all over the scale myself. I have loved this series and have been looking forward to reading Very's story, and have gone from disappointment to ending up with OK, but especially the first half did not catch me at all and I had points where I almost gave up reading the book. I got really good towards the end and if possible I would have given it 3.5 overall.

I have to admit I wasn't all that thrilled with this book. I really wanted it to be amazing as I've been waiting for this story since I read the first BIA book. ****SPOILER****the thing that ruined this book for me is that I don't believe the three of them are doing life together, so to speak. In all the other books, I believed that. They lived together. They had kids together. And most importantly, they made decisions together. Even if you didn't actually see that on the written page, you knew it because of how their life was set up. *******************************MAJOR SPOILER. DO NOT READ ON ******************************************** Michael is married to someone else and has a "kid". Even if it is a sham marriage, he still has a household to run and make decisions for. He has a title and all that entails to take care of. How can he possibly be doing life with them? I didn't have a problem with Very's PTSD. I thought that was legitimate. I even understood Michael running from them, given his history. I just don't think this book was very believable given the time these characters lived in. I can suspend disbelief for the other books in the series, but this one, I really can't.

Wow, I bought this the day it came out and waiting one day to read it. Before reading it I looked at the comments and was ready for the worst. I didn't like Love's Strategy or Love in Exile very much. I believe because they were short but really I felt the characters were not well drawn. I loved "At Love's Command" and "Love's Fortress". All the others I have liked including, surprisingly after the negative reviews, this one. The reason it lost the star was the contrived conflict at the end that just didn't seem to fit and the "oath" that lead to lies. It was just a bit ridiculous. All the same, none of that occurred until past 66% of the book. The relationship between Wolf and Very is very well brought up during this time. **early Spoiler** Very suffers from agoraphobia after a traumatic event. I have a friend and a family member that this has happen to and I thought she drew it very well. Other than that, Very seems very much Very. In the other books we see Michael always fighting his attraction to Very and in ALC he runs off from them. I think Kane drew Michael's inner turmoil about the unconventional relationship very well, even him accepting it was well done. The only problem was the conflict which seemed very contrived. ** spoiler kinda; Why would the master go to THAT much trouble to chase after the woman... to England no less. and Why would Michael, in such a short time, throw all his backing to this woman?** Still I like how Wolf, Very and Michael end up together. It was more a Michael - Very thing from book one and three (or is it 4 ALC), and it became so clear that Wolf was the more steady, more caring, more loving one. Michael had to learn. I very much enjoyed the book and loved seeing all the other characters again, especially Sophie, poor Sophie. If you love the series you gotta read it just to keep up with all the characters. Be ready for a little contrived excitement at the end, but take the rest for what it is, A Brothers In Arms book.
