Months of running into her sexy new neighbor have taken a toll on Alexis’ libido. There’s interest in his smoky gaze every time they meet, but he seems reluctant to ask her out. They never share more than a slight nod and a polite hello. She’s about to take matters into her own hands when she finds herself thrown into a situation that could end her life.

With nothing but erotic fantasies of Alexis to warm his bed at night, Reid knows he has to stay away from her until his undercover assignment is over. But when a cold-blooded initiation to prove he’s trustworthy forces him to involve her, nothing can keep him from claiming her.

Reader Advisory: This book contains a brief scene involving forced seduction.

Review of Breathless Surrender Mostly a good short read, but I found the opening a little ponderous because of all the back story intruding on the action. Perhaps the back story could have been woven in a little better, or maybe added as a prologue, but when the heroine is hanging from the rafters by her wrists, it breaks up the action to hear about how they met in the hallway of their apartment block, or how Mike got drunk with one of the kidnappers the week before. There is real danger here and an opportunity for non-stop action which is missed. There could have been more tension if the kidnapping and her treatment at the hands of her captors was more fully described. Alexis doesn't seem to be nearly as hysterical as I would expect given her circumstances. I was also left wondering how they escaped to the cabin without incident. The hot and heavy sex scenes quite possibly make up for that, but not till later, and there still has to be believability to the story, even if it is erotica. I also think there was an opportunity for more action in the take down of the drug lords, and more opportunity for tension as the heroine waits to hear from her lover about the arrest. Might even have been more danger if she had actually communicated with her mother and been found out by the bad guys. There's a little too much of the 'just in time' rescue theme, and not enough information about the FBI agent who is killed-- are we supposed to believe that our hero is the one killed? However, the sex is good, rough in places, and maybe that's all the author wanted to do -- titillate the readers with sex. In that case she succeeded. Good erotica, not so much erotic suspense.
