Bradford Stratton needs a wife. It isn’t a tragic problem until one considers his disposition. He’d rather spend his days, and nights, with his young lover Frederick. But his father’s gently put request that he marry is nothing short of an order, and Bradford won’t settle for a silly bit of fluff. When he sees the beautiful Norwegian seamstress, he makes his decision on the spot. He has to have her, even as he knows claiming her could destroy his relationship with Frederick.

Ilsa Bergstrom has endured all the abuse she can take from her late sister’s cruel husband. But a thirty-year-old childless woman in London’s rough Whitechapel has few options for surviving on her own, and after a horrific night of abuse at the hands of three men, she’ll never choose whoring as one of them. Yet when handsome nobleman Bradford Stratton makes a scandalous proposition, she accepts without hesitation. Bradford proves to be a gentle and generous lover. But Ilsa knows when something seems too good to be true, it usually is.

This was an AWESOME book. Some parts will make you cry and some parts will make you laugh but having Ilsa avenge herself at the end makes for a feel good story. The smoking hot sex doesn't take away from this book at all (Tongue in Cheek)

"Saving Lady Ilsa" is a rare treat. Kauffman spins a somewhat traditional, "Cinderella-ish" storyline by populating her world with flesh-and-blood characters who seize readers' interest and refuse to let go all the way to the end. Ilsa, Frederick, and Bradford make a delightful menage. Their personalities and motivations come across, vivid and real, on the page. I felt the author did a great job depicting how these three people could live and love together happily and I loved getting to know them. With that said, the book's not perfect. The story's main villain isn't so well-crafted; his motives and behavior change constantly to accommodate the plot. Given his extreme cruelty and ill-will toward Ilsa, I just could not believe he wanted her back. Kauffman introduced a lovely plot point -- Ilsa restoring some of Bradford's old furniture -- and then never moved forward with it. I viewed the furniture restoration as an allegory of Ilsa'a recovery from her past and her growth and happiness with her husband and her lover. It would have been nice to include brief mentions of the restoration process to reflect Ilsa's growing love and trust with Bradford and Frederick. I honestly disliked Frederick when I first "met" him in the story, and I considered his first liasion with Ilsa something of a turn-off (a bit rushed IMHO,) and it's a real credit to Kauffman's talent with characterization that, despite my first bad impression, I really came to love him. Pacing and timing in the book are also very good and well-balanced. The book's editorial isn't what a work like this deserves -- at least twice, I found myself "thrown" out of the story due to some inconsistency possibly related to rewriting, but I loved the story so much I didn't care. The cover artist deserves accolades for a cover that, I felt, realistically conveyed a credible look and emotion of this menage. Very good book, many thanks to Kauffman for this delightful work.

I loved it! It was a very steamy book. If I had one complaint it would be that the book ended too soon.
