BACKWOODS, a prequel to SHIVAREE tells the story behind the story. We get to meet Shane before Gabriel walked into his bar and his life and turned it upside down. The attraction and desire between the two men is laid so bare that the heat leaps off the page. Don't misunderstand and think that it's just hot sex (although it REALLY is) but the tension and characterizations are so true that you'll find yourself relating. We've all had that love that alternately thrilled and frightened with its intensity. And if you haven't then after you read this, you'll at least know what that feels like. The relationship between Shane and Gabriel is so nuanced, not only because of the secrecy and forbidden aspect of it, but because you think you know who's in control, but is he really? I HIGHLY recommend this book. Well written, a perfect story about falling in love and all the exhilaration and terror that comes along with that. Especially when opened up to the unexpected.
