Tori is the vice president of her company. Her career is all about being in charge, solving problems, making decisions. But in the bedroom she likes to give up control. She likes to be taken to the edge, likes the heady pleasure of pain, likes how it sets her free.

Dev is a physician. In his career, he has sworn to do no harm and was taught that raising a hand to a woman is wrong. And he is nearly a decade younger than Tori.

The attraction between Tori and Dev is more than just physical—they both feel a connection of spirit. They begin a relationship that seems to work despite their age difference. But when Tori reveals what she really wants in bed, Dev’s not sure if he has it in him to give it to her. And Tori isn’t sure she can have a relationship with someone who can’t accept her for who she is. It’s a power struggle.

I loved this story and just thought it wonderful. The character development was very in-depth and emotional. You really feel with Dev and Tori and understand everything they are thinking and why and how they are conflicted but try so hard for the other. I loved that I could identify with all the characters. So very toughing. There are definitely some hot scenes. I hope there is a sequel because I would love to read Gabe's story. Initially I thought Power Struggle was going to be like many other BDSM stories I’ve read. A little kink, a bit of fun, tie me up and spank me, tell me what to do and I’m yours kind of story. Wow! Put away the cookie cutter BDSM stories because Power Struggle takes typical BDSM to a new level. Yes, there is all the great titillating kink, but the way Ms. Jamieson took me into the story was personal and emotional. Dev and Tori’s thoughts, motivations and actions are intimately revealed. The slightest shift in thinking had monumental influence on the way they responded to each other. Both with flaws and struggles that made them real. Both with fears and expectations and not sure how to ask the other for what they wanted. Secondary characters added to the flavor but didn’t diminish what was happening between Tori and Dev. So Kelly, will we get a story for Gabe? If so I’ll be first in line for a copy! The story is crammed full of deliciously naughty sex. Each encounter brings on new revelations for both Tori and Dev. The character growth in the story makes this book one to add to your must read pile. If you love BDSM with an emotional connection to the bondage, Dom/sub play, than this is a book for you. www.seriouslyreviewed.blogspot.com

I have found Kelly Jamieson sometimes hit or miss - Sexpresso Night and Irish Sex Fairy were awesome but Rigger wasn't that great in my opinion. This however tops all of them and is probably the best book she's written. I loved this one because for once the woman - Tori was aware of who she was sexually and what she needed to be happy in a sexual relationship - it wasn't some Dom trying to convince a woman she was secretly submissive... Their relationship didn't start out as a BDSM relationship - it started out like a "vanilla" one and they grew into what they both needed from each other in a well paced, well developed manner - with some bumps in the road. Dev learning what he needed as a dominant personality was very realistic. I found this book especially compelling because I lived through an abusive relationship yet my proclivities are submissive to my husband (not my abuser) and that's what I need - and balancing the two - survivor/submissive was very difficult for both my husband and myself at first - and we are still learning. Jamieson handled this element very well - it is the sticking point for a lot of people when it comes to understanding and accepting a BDSM relationship - what is abuse and what isn't especially when it's asked for. If Jamieson can top this I'm hoping it's with Gabe's story because he needs somebody.... by the way MS. Jamieson - thank you for the realism in the sex club with Dev, Gabe and Tori - that really made the book for me. >^..^<

This is a wonderful novel and I will definitely have Kelly on my watch list for now on. While there was definitely some hot scenes (real hot!), I think the beauty of this book was the depth of characterization, and its honest and realistic development of the plot. I loved how I could identify with all the characters and wished I could know them. I loved the "love story" - the way it developed and grew from the initial attraction to the hot desire they felt for one another; how the author characterized their insecurities and fears when they each realized they were falling in love - to the self-actualization they both experienced; and finally, to the climatic ending which had me at the edge of my seat for a few moments. This is a well-developed, perfectly paced novel with BDSM that was tastefully delivered (that even the faint-hearted could appreciate) but ultimately, a beautiful love story that truly resonated with me. I hope there is a sequel but really - I don't think she can top this one.
