Denise on 7/19/2010, said: Denise Agnew is a good author. I really enjoyed her Heart of Justice and Hot Zone series. She does contemporary romance very well. This is different from her usual, but it is still very much worth reading. The character development was good and the reader comes to care for the main characters. Dane Charger is a dream of a hero. Ketera is a solid female lead. Their chemistry is excellent. Where I found this book could use improvement is in the world building. I know this is a romance novel, but when writing fantasy of any kind and creating a new world, well world building is important. The problem with world building could be a result of the length of the novel. This story would have been better if it were longer and more thorough. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the novel being fast paced and driven by character interaction. It's just that this story has the potential for a much more in depth plot if the author would have chosen to develop it in that way. This is the first book in a series so there is time for more explaining in the other novels. Regardless of the room for improvement, the novel was entertaining and I look forward to the next books in the series. I liked what I learned of this world and found it very interesting. Moreover, Denise Agnew's talent for creating characters that are captivating and developing relationships with scorching hot chemistry is something I don't want to miss. Cat on 7/19/2010, said: This was a very promising book and I'm hoping that with the others that Ketera was looking for - the two other women that were with her - that the story will evolve more and be filled in. Like the previous reviewer has stated the characters were well developed with chemistry, great interaction, empathy and romance...The hero - Dane had strength of character as well as body and Ketera was no pushover either which was great, however I did feel that there were some items missing from the story line - sub plots, or world building or an understanding that the characters had in the story that the reader didn't.. sort of like a half heard conversation... that either didn't make it into this book because the development needed a bit more, or are coming in the next book... either way it is an good read, different from her other stuff, and I too am looking forward to seeing how this will play out.
