Human Design, Book One

A self-professed lab geek, Claire doesn’t date much. In fact, she has more contact with the rats at the lab than with human males, not counting her toadlike boss, Gordon. When her coworkers drag her out to a club, Claire ends up fending off her drunk and handsy boss—until she’s rescued by Ed, the most beautiful bouncer she’s ever seen.

Her tentative, exhilarating relationship with Ed is interrupted when she learns her boss intends to falsify research data to win a grant. When Claire threatens to reveal the truth, she endangers her life, as well as Ed’s. Framed and forced to run, it’s not long before Claire discovers Ed is hiding a shocking secret of his own.

Through arson, police chases and attempted murder, the two grow closer, the intensity of their lovemaking rivaling that of their harrowing journey. Claire would be worried about the ever-present danger and a grim future as a fugitive…if she weren’t so engrossed in her erotic experiments with Ed.

Have had this book for ages, and it's in my "favourites" folder for ease of access to reread. I'm just upset that no more of this series is finished yet, I want to know so badly what happens with all the others *sigh*

Certainly entertaining and readable, but since I've read most of Katie Allen work, I know she could have done better. Why would a scientist be so dizzy? I'm not sure why authors think that a complete lack of common sense is attractive in a heroine. Not that Ed wasn't a good hero, but his character could have done with a lot more development, perhaps if the reader had more insight into how he felt from his point of view as she did with another of her strong silent heros in (Breaking the Silence)the book would have been better. And yes as the other readers stated, the ending was abrupt.

Great hero and a good story. The ending was a bit abrupt, though. I would have liked a bit more, but still a very enjoyable read.

Loved the book! Recommend it to all who love comedy with romance...The suspenseful part was low-keyed, but left plenty of room for imagination for the next books in series...The love between Ed and Claire was hot, but not unbelievable for having just met...Wish it had been longer with a bit more of background laid about Ed and his five friends...

I have read a couple of Katie Allens books before and really enjoyed them. This one is the best by far. If you like your heros quiet and loveable then you will just want an Ed of your very own. As for Claire, she is Ed's perfect counterpart. Smart, funny, willing to try anything. She balances Ed perfectly. Can'twait to read the rest of the Human Design series, if they are a good as this one. Then it is money well spent. Sit back and enjoy the ride, their characters you will never forget.

As the first in what I assume to be a 5 book series this one was good. I liked the plot, the characters, and the sex scenes were hot. I gave it 4 stars because it was a bit short and the ending seemed rushed. Otherwise it was a good book and I enjoyed it. Looking forward to seeing what the rest of the series will entail.

I, too, love all of Katie Allen's books. This new series has an intriguing/suspense-filled premise (not much is given away with this first installment)and offers her usual well-developed characters. I am definitely eager to read the next book. I just wish it was longer because Katie Allen writes so well and is so entertaining that one is always sorry to see the ending page. This book (like all of her others) is a delight to read.

I love all of Katie Allen books and this one is no different. I love the way she can make a story that you see yourself in. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because I wish it weren't so short and that I could have a better conclusion. Hopefully this is a part one to five stories. If so then I'll be adding that extra star.
