Book two in the Ra’s Chosen series.

Set is a warrior chosen by the sun god Ra to protect mortals from the undead who hunt them. That is what he knows. Unfortunately, having watched his leader, a fellow warrior, succumb to a destined mate, Set also knows he will someday suffer the same fate. Set doesn’t need nor want a mate. He’s just fine on his own, thank you very much. But when a spitfire of a woman is thrust into his life, whose sole mission seems to be to knee him in the groin and escape every chance she gets, he’s intrigued. A lot.

Desiree may have lusted after Set from afar for months, but that doesn’t mean she’s going to go willingly with the behemoth of a man spouting a whole bunch of garbage about immortality, an ancient Egyptian god and her destiny as his mate. No doubt he’s two bricks short of a load. But when they touch, passion like she’s never known consumes her. Perhaps he’s not so crazy after all…

Good, interesting plot and characters. I like it enough to read the rest of the series. But if you want really challenging and powerful Alphas, this is not it. The males are strong, but for men who are thousands of year old Egyptian warriors they behave like modern day American Caucasian guys who wear jeans and muscle tanks, and kick ass - their culture is only expressed in decorations. Would be nice to have more of their culture expressed in the plot and their mannerisms. But as I said, this is a good read but opportunity was missed for something so much better.

Okay, I'm giving myself a 5 because I don't want to bring down my rating, but I did want to leave a comment for everyone. Since I've had more than one reader comment saying they are worried Takan is gay I thought I would put those to rest. Takan is not gay, just sensitive :). He'll get his female mate in Book 6.

Another great read. Ms.Chenery does not disappoint. I wrote to her and she was simply wonderful in answering my questions. I'm really looking forward to Akori's and Takan's stories. I can hardly wait. She's managed to really draw me in and I really want to know the mystery surrounding Takan. Cool!

Second books are always the hardest to write and my fellow Canadian Marisa Chenery did a great job for her second!! I can't wait for the rest... especially Akori and Takan's. I have to say that I too am worried that Takan may end up gay - not that I have a problem with it but he's my favorite of the untold warriors and it would just kill me to miss what could be a great sexy story as the gay aspect doesn't do it for me personally - but I'd have to read it just to find out about Takan!! It's shaping up to be a great series.

It was as the 3 stars indicate, enjoyable, but a lot of it was just ho hum for me. The first in the series was better but I wasn't blown away by it either. I find myself completely bored with the secondary story line between the warriors and the undead and Egyptian mythology is not something I'm usually bored with. I'm looking forward to the story of Takan the most. I'm starting to worry she'll make his character gay which would really disappoint me. I think Sek should be redeemed and find love or the story of Apep given some sort of sexy twist. Anyway, I'm rambling.
