Book one in the Ra’s Chosen series.

As one of Ra’s Chosen warriors, Mehen must protect mortals from the undead who hunt them. Gifted by the sun god Ra, Mehen has never struggled with the task—until he saves a woman from three undead, and finds himself in need of saving. Something about the woman stirs him, and he’s consumed by his need not only for her body, but also her blood.

Blythe may have been saved by the mysterious man, but her reaction to the feel of his arms around her and the way his eyes wander to her neck don’t make her feel much safer. When she’s taken to his headquarters against her will, she finds herself a prisoner. But when he unleashes passion unlike any she’s ever known, she realizes she’ll do anything to stay imprisoned.

But Blythe is not who she seems. And Mehen finds himself in the fight of his life to save the woman he loves from the evil that yearns to possess her.

A few things. First, teleportation is a get-out-of-jail-free card, and if you don't use it when the hero is in trouble, you'd better have a very good, very well-explained reason. Second, Takan is the artist, the scholar, and the vision guy. Might want to spread some of that personality around, as everyone else is pretty bland. Finally, the hero was so irritatingly stupid, it was very hard to believe he'd led this band of warriors for thousands of years. If they hadn't been fate mates, I suspect Blythe would have dumped his sorry a**. The writing was a bit weak, but shows promise. I don't know if I'll be reading more. I want to hear about Takan, so that's a good sign.

First - should not have characters names that are so close, a bit confusing for readers - Sek vs. Set. Good, interesting plot and characters, and I look forward to reading about Set, Denger, Akori, Keysen, and Takan. I like it enough to read the rest of the series, but borderline mediocre if you're used to reading books in this genre. If you want really challenging and powerful Alphas, this is not it. The males are strong, but not classic Alphas, which I prefer. Their Egyptian culture is only expressed in decorations, would be nice to have more of their culture expressed in the plot and their mannerisms. As some others have noted, a tad ho-hum and cliched but a good read with interesting characters.

Although there were some corny/unbelievable moments, the book is well written and keeps the reader interested enough to want to read the rest in the series. I enjoyed it a lot.

The story started out fine but quickly became a long boring tale full of cliches'.

I enjoyed the storyline and the sex scenes were good. The author took time to explain and bring to light ther personalities of all the characters. So kudos to her. There was one annoying habit the repeated throughout the book which got old. Mehen is always trying to push Blythe away and then he takes her back. She gets mad at being pushed away but comes back to him again and again. Once is enough but really it happened a lot.

I have read all the Black Dagger Brotherhood books, and the Midnight Breed Series as well as the Dark Series, and this novel is just as good. I think Marisa Chenery has done a great job with building the book world and describing the characters. Well done. Cant wait to see what happens to the other 5 warriors
