Luz Velez is a shapeshifter who can’t shift. Every time she tries to summon her inner wolf, she has a massive panic attack. Worse, her anxiety extends to the rest of her life. At twenty-seven, she’s still a virgin because attempting to have sex sends her into lockdown mode. She’s miserable and stuck—until Jude Jacobson comes along.

Tall, blond and dangerous, Jude is the most feared vampire in town and the minute he sees her, he wants Luz. Vampires and shapeshifters don’t date but he makes her an offer she can’t refuse—a blood exchange that will help her control her panic attacks and give her the life she’s always wanted.

Luz is desperate—she takes Jude up on his offer. But she doesn’t expect to fall for the darkly seductive vampire—or to be plunged into danger when her past comes calling. When Jude’s own dark secret comes to light, she begins to question her deal with the devil and wonder if she and Jude can make it…or if they’ll die trying.

Reader Advisory: Though the author handles Luz’s past trauma sensitively, some readers, particularly those with a history of sexual abuse, may find this story disturbing.

Great story. Shows people who don't fit in can find friends in unlikely places. Will purchase from this author again.

Very well written book. Loved it. I agree what others have written... Luz's past could have been handle poorly, but Anderson did a great job.

I've read almost every one of her books and must say that this one was a page turning. There was a situation that I was doubtful could be pulled off tastefully in this storyline but like in one of her other novels she rose up to the challenge.

Frankly, Ms. Anderson did a great job with this book. Tough plot to carry through, but she succeeds. And it's a reasonably well done nod towards trying to tell the story of someone who has a traumatic past trying to leave behind their panic. Very thoughtful, I give Ms. Anderson credit for having researched this - it's obviously not something that she just decided to put in, it was a calculated move to even ATTEMPT to deal with the topic of sexual abuse, and she carries it off better and more respectfully than I'd thought she would, and I'm a huge fan of hers. Definitely a good read! Surprisingly hot, definitely a fun romp where you come to enjoy the heroes and certainly the sex. The story has good flow over the course of the heroes' relationship. This one is highly recommended, so definitely if you're an Evangeline Anderson or thinking of becoming one, this is a solid choice.

I thought this was a great book! The underlying issue of a woman's right to choose was addressed tastefully and respectfully. The trauma she experienced as a child is a real event that happens in life, not to be minimized...The sex was hot and storyline smooth, the heroes awesome...Great read, even in first person!

I appreciated the appropriately dealt with past issue of sexual trauma dealt with and not minimized in any way (as it was a valid plot point). This is the hottest dominant male hero in a long way and great steamy sex scenes too. This is a must read. Ms.Angeline more books por favor! Highly recommended.

It is really true that you can't choose your family but you can choose who you love and your friends. I was glad that Luz and Diego found people (vampires) that cared for them and their well being. The fact that Luz realized Jude was looking out for her (even though he was a vampire) and he had good reasons for the ruthless things he does, was well written. Glad Diego tried to save her but Jude showed up for the fight too. Would like Diego to have his own story even if its a short one. Great plot, great characters and great story.

sloppy-very surprising because I usually love EA's work. There was humor in inappropriate places and the love between Jude and Luz was not believable. Just was not feeling this story at all.
