On a mission to retrieve a "kidnapped" executive he enlists the help of Carlin and her tracking dog to help in his quest. Thinking to use the dog only, he ends up with the woman as well. Seems Carlin won’t let anyone use her dog without her along, and as he needs the help he reluctantly agrees. What begins as an interlude born of proximity and convenience becomes more, and as they track down their prey, they uncover more than just their goal. While this had all the aspects expected of an exceptional read it left me feeling kind of flat. The chemistry was just missing between Lonato and Carlin, and I found their love for one another at the end of the story unconvincing. While written with steam and seduction in mind, again I didn’t get the same thrill I’ve gotten from reading other works by this author.
