Galeria is ready to hit the streets of L.A. for a quick snack. She is a very happy, satisfied woman—having just left her two hot vampire lovers sleeping soundly in her bed.

But their lives weren’t always so wonderful, such a long time ago in Rome. Back then Galeria was the emperor’s daughter. She wasn’t supposed to have a scorching secret affair with the beautiful and passionate Cassian, champion gladiator of Rome. Nor should she have taken comfort in the massive, marble-like arms of Atticus—Cassian’s best friend, her night chamber guard and a closet vampire—when informed of Cassian’s supposed demise.

Too late, they discover that Cassian lives. Overcome with jealousy, he challenges Atticus to a battle to the death in the arena. Galeria is caught in the middle, tormented by her feelings for these two powerful men. But a mysterious ritual changes all their lives. Forever.

Great plot; great story; great characters. A good, fast moving short story. Couldn't put it down until I finished.

3.5 / 5 - Happy now, Galeria has a moment of reflection that gives the reader a glimpse into the rocky past and the journey that brought her to her contentment. Galeria was the daughter of the emperor of Rome, and as such was a pawn. Her existence was to benefit Rome, not to fall in love with a gladiator. But fall in love she did, and when Cassian is declared dead, she crumbles into the arms of Cassian’s friend and her personal guard Atticus. In their grief they make love, but Galeria rolls away and Atticus is consumed with love and guilt. But Cassian’s death was a ruse perpetuated by another ruler to advance himself, and when Cassian returns his rage knows no bounds that Atticus has lain with Galeria. A duel is to be fought to the death. With one small problem. Atticus is already dead, or rather undead. In usual male fashion Cassian makes a huge mistake. Never mind he was supposed to be dead. Geesh! Now Cassian and Atticus must fight to the death. What follows is a plan that Atticus formulates so all can be happy, if only Galeria will consent. Since she is suffering from a malady that killed her mother, she’s receptive. Convinced she can have neither man, she finds she can live forever with both. What choice would you make? A quick paranormal read with some steamy sex and a lot of angst.
