I have not read any shape-shifter stories before; I felt the author explained the concept quite well and I learned more as the story progressed. The consept for the world was well done and details were given throughout the story. I like it when the world building keeps happening throughout and doesn't just come in a lump piece at the begining. This story was more of a fantasy novel with erotic romance, then an erotic romance set in a fantasy world. I will be looking for more from this author. Marie is a character you can identify with - we've all had those time we feel we don't fit in. I love how Adam opens her to new things and how the two men gently build her self-confidence.
