We first met Angela in the prequel, “Hung Like a Dead Man”, while Angela kept an open mind during Yancy’s escapades, she never would have thought that she would have her own paranormal episode. I thought it was great that Angela was clueless that there was something different about Otto; just after Halloween she and he shared a bar fight and a mind blowing kiss. I loved Angela’s musings over that kiss and the lingering effects that it instilled in her. Considering that things were about to get a little crazy on the cross roads, I found the entire scene very funny. As the heroine in the book, Angel's Character may have been a little under developed, but her unwavering loyalty and protectiveness towards her loved ones was unquestionable. I really liked the author’s character development of Otto. He personified naughty and nice wrapped up in a neat package; the ultimate trickster waiting to accept whatever a person is willing to offer in trade, yet deeply concerned when the offer was made by Angela. Though he loves to cause mischief and mayhem, Otto is only doing what comes natural. His depth of human characteristics allowed this reviewer to compare his pursuit of Angela to an ordinary guy trying to get the potential girlfriend. Although courting Angela was slightly foreign to him, Otto does put his heart and soul into his attempts to wear down her resistance. The romantic elements were sweet and outrageous, the sexual encounters were filled with passion and urgency, the emotions, the expectations and the individual shortcomings of Angela and Otto were realistically written. The author’s use of folklore as the conflict and driving force of the story-line was an unexpected, but engaging twist. I highly recommend “Sexy Beast”; it was a delightful paranormal romance.
