Book 2 in the Miami Scorcher series, can be read as a stand-alone.

Marisol has one goal in life—kill the man who murdered her pack. But when she meets alpha werewolf Stephan and realizes he’s her mate, all her carefully laid plans dissipate in seconds. By all accounts, she should hate Stephan and everything he stands for. Unfortunately, every time the dominating wolf gets close, she can’t deny her growing attraction for the last man in the world she expected to want.

Undercover DEA agent Stephan is about to make the biggest bust of his career, but everything that can go wrong does. He never expected to discover his mate while on the job. She saves his life and his cover when he almost shifts in the middle of a crowded Miami nightclub, but that doesn’t mean he trusts her. The clock is ticking and if he doesn’t figure out what secrets the sexy vixen is keeping from him, he might lose his job—and his life.

Ever heard the saying can’t see the forest for the trees? Marisol is blinded by her obsession with killing the man who murdered her pack. Determined to go it alone, she misses opportunities for help and support along the way. If she followed protocol, she wouldn’t be alone at all. But in her fervor for revenge she stumbles upon the one man who can help her. And save her. Stephan is working undercover on a case for the DEA when the unthinkable happens. His mate, who he had resigned himself to never finding, is smack dab in the middle of his job. With his wolf aroused, and his job at stake, she manages to extricate him before he shifts in the middle of a nightclub. His focus is on claiming and keeping his mate, while taking down a drug dealer. Marisol’s focus is on killing the man she’s been after for a year, who is the same man Stephan is after. While both Marisol and Stephan are clouded with lust, they try to multi-task and focus on their other goals. It’s not easy. While the interludes were plentiful, they sometimes were missing chemistry. Common sense would have prevented a lot of what was going on, but then there wouldn’t have been a story. While they want one another due to biology, trust isn’t instantaneous. And they both have withheld information that would make it difficult to trust. This is the second story about the Lazos pack, and I see signs that there will be a third. I’m intrigued enough to want to see where the story goes.

Excellent book! I enjoyed the first one, but this one was even better and REALLY looking forward to the third one (her website has a blurb up about it, for those that are interested). I like the fact that even though the couple met under false pretenses, the lies didn't last long and the couple were able to understand each other so quickly. Too many romance novels rely on the "misunderstanding" to be the only conflict in the book and drag it out to the end.

Fantastic! I only have two things to say about this book - You can't end a book like this!!! And when's the next one going to come out? Both books in this series are great reads and I can't wait to see where this goes!
