Valentine Nichols wants two things for her birthday—for Shane Daniels to notice her, and a taste of the wild D/s sex scene she’s been longing to experience. When she sees Shane at the local BDSM club, she hatches a plan to have both and convinces Shane to give her lessons in submission.

Shane Daniels has wanted Valentine for years but as his best friend’s little sister, she’s strictly off-limits. But when Valentine talks him into giving her D/s lessons, he gives in to some of his darker urges and dominates her sexually.

Now they are locked in a battle of wills as Valentine pushes him for a consummation of their new relationship while Shane tries to keep himself from taking her completely. Who will win? They’ll both find out when Valentine takes her spanking.

I liked this book. The characters have a long history with a heady amount of sexual tension. While it did seem they played a lot of games with each other, the ultimate lesson was that no one ever gets it right at first. Even people you've known forever and surprise you. The Dom/sub scenes were hot!!

It was enjoyable but enough with the hard core. For a light-hearted sub/dom story that is funny and pretty hot read Bonnie Hamre's Sweet Discipline. That was fantastic.

The story was enjoyable, if you are into hardcore D/s relationships and very hardcore spanking. But, The thooughts of the characters kinda interupted the natural flow of the story. It wasn't Anderson's bestwork, but it was sill pretty enjoyable.

Super hot sex. If you're looking for a book to get you hot and bothered, look no further. Valentine is a very naughty heroine--and gets up to tricks I think most of us wish we were brave enough to try. She especially loves "topping from the bottom" in order to earn punishments from her Dom, Shane. And let me say a word about Shane--YUM. Hot, intense, and completely dominating, he nonetheless has a soft spot in his heart for Valentine which twists him in knots because he feelings guilty for topping her. Everything comes out all right in the end but the journey these two take to get there will leave you breathless and searching for your toys!

WARNING! SPOILER REVIEW I mostly liked this story, but some oddities in the storyline bothered me. Valentine and Shane appeared to enjoy a very loving and honest friendship. I do get the potential inhibitions both characters felt about taking their love beyond friendship, but their hesitation dragged out too long. Many aspects of the "romance" read as unhealthy and dysfunctional to me, not romantic. Lying/dishonesty, emotional blackmail, and what amount to manipulative "head games" all play a part in the "romantic" development of this relationship. Multiple opportunities exist for Val and Shane to confess their deeper feelings and neither ever does, opting instead to focus upon spicy hot BDSM sex. The erotica was titillating and exciting (but a tad "talkative"), the characters pleasant and likeable, but their social skills were not on par with their alleged intelligence and maturity. Grotesque irony: Val drops her "nice" boyfriend, Gavin, because, although he loves her and fulfills her otherwise, he has no interest in her BDSM "needs." However, she hooks up with Shane who is everything I'd think a bad "dom" would be. He's dishonest with Valentine (and with himself) about his reasons for dominating her. He offers her BDSM, but refrains from offering her real (honest) love and affection. He even "punishes" her when he's really upset with her (to my understanding that's a no-no in real BDSM because the dom cannot control the situation if he's angry.) Valentine is supposed to be an educated, intelligent, nice woman, but she has no problem stooping to manipulative gestures and behavior that most intelligent, educated, and socially adjusted people leave behind in the schoolyard. Description of Shane "yanking down" Valentine's corset weirded me out. Trust me, when a corset is laced to the figure, it cannot be "yanked down" without risking damage to the corset and/or injury to the wearer. The book's editorial quality is very good. I liked the cover art; it "fit" the book's mood and tone quite well. I liked Valentie and Shane, but I do have a lingering "dissatisfied" feeling after reading their story. Lots of spanking, slim on realized trust.

Sex scenes were a little lacking and the plot was a little weak- but I love E. Anderson quite a bit so will cut her slack on this and blame her editor.

I usually like her books but this one is disappointing. Usual sexual tension mission, not hot at all. So called “kink” is missing. Lots of word no story.

I have to agree with Lauren. The sex scenes were hot and steamy enough to keep this story from being a total dud, but the storyline itself was very cheesy and overdone, very soap operish. It's apparently okay to stage BDSM scenes with your best friend's little sister and do everything except have intercourse, but having sex is crossing the line...?
