I like the way the book dealt with the issue of domestic violence and its effects, while still allowing for a love story. Characters acted in out-of-character ways, such as the patriarch of the clan who sits back and watches rather than stopping obviously wrong behavior, and explanations on things like the hero's past were disjointed (and never fully explained to the heroine). A poster child for the very definition of romantica. There was a lot of depth to the story. It sort of sneaks up on you; a quarter of the way through, I thought I could see how it would play out. However, I was wrong - a couple of twists and I found myself slowing down to further enjoy it. Hope the author continues in this series.
