A on 2/9/2010, said: Amanda Sidhe has authored an erotic novella that easily stands as one of the richest, most compelling vampire tales ever conceived. Sidhe has an impeccable hand for imagery and atmosphere. Emotion leaks from the page, good, wicked, curious, dangerous, and just plain hungry for food, sex, and love. Characters are well-formed and distinctive and their motives are conveyed clearly in the story. Sidhe world-builds and introduces her vampire mythos with great effectiveness. (This is the only book of hers I read and I managed to grasp the concepts without much trouble.) The erotic scenes themselves were delectably written, engaging all the reader's senses. I could not give this ebook a perfect score because, unfortunately, I felt at times Sidhe gave us too much of a good thing at the expense of other aspects of the storytelling craft. Very little dialogue is used and I found that disconcerting after a while. I also found the action scene -- a scuffle in Chapter 2 -- extremely difficult to follow and I was still confused later in the story since I'd thought Deacon was the aggressor, but it turned out another vampire was. There were also some structure and wording problems that I'm beginning to note as regular fare in EC books. Sentences missing words, improper usage, and subject verb disagreement. While uncommon, errors were frequent enough to annoy me and "pull me out" of this enticing, sensuous gem of an erotic fantasy. The storyline itself has sufficient tension and interest to make one read to the end and the ending leaves one satisfied that good little vampires everywhere had best take care about who they summon. Warning: this is not an erotic romance with a standard HEA. If you love dreamy erotic vampire fantasy, don't miss this book.
