Book Three in the Hot Magic series.

The last thing Braeden needs is to be trapped alone with Athena, his former lover and current nemesis, but when instincts lead him to save her life, that’s exactly where he ends up. Landing in an alternate universe with one sexy witch, it isn’t long before he’s recalling steamy nights and the wrap of Athena’s long, golden limbs around his body.

As a powerful wizard, he has no business loving Athena, especially since his family, the strongest guild of wizards, have fought Athena’s coven for centuries. Being alone with her now is going to wreak havoc on his self-control, since sex with Athena is the best he’s ever had and he can’t seem to keep his hands off her.

Along with fighting an evil they never expected, Athena and Braeden futilely attempt to fight their banked passion. Soon, hot sex, dangerous battles and exploding desire turn their world upside down and leave them questioning their decision to part ways.

3.5 stars. My least favorite of the three, maybe because I was looking forward to how they worked through the conflict, which was actually done pretty well. We get to see Athena change and grow and discover what made her evil, as well as the resolution to that. Braden was a wonderful hero. It's not that I didn't enjoy the book, I did. But it wasn't a must- or recommended-read to me. Maybe it's that the love scenes seemed repetitive (though not badly placed). Or... If you enjoyed the others, you'll probably enjoy this, too. But don't start with this one.

Athena has been trying to annihilate Braeden's family since she believes the Wizards destroyed hers (family, that is). What she doesn't expect is for Braeden to do the "heroic" thing and save her when it seems she's going to lose. Never mind that there seems to be someone or something that wants to make sure they stay apart. Being a Wizard in love with a Witch has broken the most basic taboo of Braeden's culture since they are mortal (or immortal) enemies. But one can't help where the heart loves and his stupidly loves one toxic, vituperative woman who is also a Witch. It seems there's more going on than meets the eye and perhaps someone throwing wrenches into the works as they travel a most unusual path to love. All Righty Then! If I found the method of travel a little odd, it was only because it took a bit to figure out what it actually was in our time. There were a few contradictions about it, but they were minor. I simply enjoyed the Royal Battle of the Sexes from page one to the end. With a bit of wit and humor Ms. Carrington has written a tale of love, lust, hate, fear, faith, and what a man ( or woman ) will do to preserve the love they have for another.
