The werewolf mythos is carefully expressed in a way that doesn’t overwhelm but definitely comes to the surface of the writing. A on 2/24/2009, said: I'm an Anderson fan and I wish I liked this story better. A menage is never easy to depict in shorter works mainly because exploring the multiple emotional and physical relationships adds to the word count. The storyline regarding Lissa's unwilling performances for a crime lord is depressing and takes up a good portion of the read, not the best choice for a Valentine theme read. There also seemed to be a big focus on Adam and Cal's sexual orientation and establishing they were "not really gay". In my opinion this was counter-productive since their feelings for Lissa and for each other already showed the audience they were bisexual. The romantica was well done, but I did not enjoy it since I was already so depressed and disturbed by the first half or so of the ebook.
