I think it takes an extraordinary author to craft a story in the first person and do it so well you keep forgetting you are reading only one side of the story. While I agree there was a lot of self reflection in this book I did not find it tedious – in fact I found it fit very well with the idea that the story was written from Katie’s perspective and as she readily admits she over thinks everything. I also fell in love with Jack – again “hats off” to Dryden for capturing the spirit and depth of his character while not being able to describe how he feels outside of his actions. But hands down what I loved most about this story was the ending… what woman wouldn’t have had that same reaction to Marisa especially so early in their relationship. Much of this book was downright boring to be honest, with long descriptions and talks and internal musings that had absolutely nothing to do with anything important or interesting.
