I laughed out loud in spots and wanted to cry in others. The sex scenes were super hot and fit well into the story. Would love this to be a series. If you've read some of my other reviews you'll know that I'm a tough customer to please, but this book is one of my favorites that I've read and reread countless times. The characters are not perfect, not even close to it - they're human. Is the hero a jerk? Sometimes. That's the point. He loves her but doesn't want to and is scared to. He has to nearly die before he figures out that he has something worth taking a chance on and refusing someone's love is a lot sadder than loving them. The sex is hotter than all get out, but the relationship between the characters is what makes this book really worth reading. (And I can't wait for Bay's story!) It's been a long time since I've read a book that I simply could not put down. The dialogue was witty and creative, and the sexual scenes were mind-blowing. As others have said, Robin covered just about every fantasy one can find but in a way that was not only believable, but which also was an awakening for the heroine. I understand the comments about the hero not being very likable at times, but considering how the story started out, you just knew it was going to feature somewhere in the storyline as a reflection of his damaged perception of interpersonal relationships. Everyone's flawed, and I appreciate the depth and care she takes with the character and plot. However! I also typically find her heroes to be disturbing. This fella is deeply self-destructive. His development toward loving the heroine is harrowing and painful to watch. I think that, despite all of the sexual dominance, he's a very weak man. If you're just reading for the sex scenes, they're plenty raunchy, but if you like interesting story or characters, reread my reservations above. Strong writing that was well-paced, wicked hot chemistry between the characters, fairly realistic situations, and HOT! HOT! SEX!!! I read the other reviews and those that didn't like the male lead, probably hate this same quality in the men that we all meet from time to time. You know the strong, tortured bad boy - with a sweet heart and a not so nice past. He's real, and yes, he's really screwed up for the most part. I liked the way Robin handled this bad boy. How she more realistically gave us our HEA, and I laughed, I cried, and boy did I get off reading this super hot story. I bought this book on my designated "mental health day" off from work - and what a SUPER DELICIOUS day off it was! BTW, If you like stories like this, check out: Into His Keeping by Gail Faulkner (in fact any of her stories are some of the best reads around!) and Make Her Dreams Come True by Joey W. Hill. Hot, romantic, fully developed, well-written stories. ENJOY!!!
