Good writing always, good story premise again, so what happened? I was so looking forward to reading this story and all I got was Anne. This book should have been about Brett and Freddie finally getting their act together and how Anne fit into that - not how Freddie fitted into Brett and Anne's life. This story just left me totally unconvinced that Brett was really interested in Freddie if Anne wasn't there, like Brett would take Freddie if it was the only way to get Anne. Anne was a good character, but she was constantly in the mix and Brett's attention was instantly removed from Freddie to her, every single time. This did not happen in the previous books, probably why their reviews were so much better. Brett was unbelievable as wanting a m/m relationship, and seriously Freddie deserved SO MUCH BETTER than to receive this third-wheel treatment when he clearly had proven himself to be totally invested in the relationship as all the other men so far in this series. Yes, clearly I am annoyed that two characters I was dying to see sort it out and get together has left me feeling frustrated. A total disservice to Freddie all around. I really liked that there was a clear plot that made you feel for the characters and Anne was the glue that finally got them together. It explained so much from the previous stories, how Brett felt guilty about so many things, how he felt about Freddy and Anne. The story behind the relationship between the Reverend Goode and Freddy's father made so much sense in relation to the story. I was really happy to see the Duke stand up to his mother.
