Imprisoned in a mountain fortress, the Storm Lord Aeral looks down on the world with longing. Tortured by isolation, his only relief is to send his mind into the village below. On a cold, wind-laced night he ventures into the cottage of the chieftain and finds his heart captured by the man’s beautiful daughter.

For centuries the Sea Lord has despised his brother. He has sent a water-born plague to devastate the village. People are dying and the only way to save them is with the holding of a lottery to choose an unwilling bride for Aeral. No human woman has ever survived marriage to the Storm Lord.

Aideyn, the chieftain’s daughter, is the woman picked as the Chosen. It was hard for her to leave her family, but she is determined to make the best of her situation. One look at the handsome Aeral and she feels the tortured soul within him. Her gentle heart aches at his plight, but surviving her wedding night may well be the hardest thing she’ll ever do.

Great storyline. Sexy cover. Loved that it was toned down from her usual. This is a very sweet and gentle love story. I love books about the Gods and Goddesses and humans turning into either or.

Although not very eventful or suspenseful, the love-conquers-all theme (a favorite of mine), strong heroine and world-building made this an enjoyable fantasy romance for me. The love scenes were hot and abundant, the romance very sweet.

Chris of Night Owl Romance - 3.5 / 5 - Hearts - Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned. Don’t cut off your nose to spite your face. These are some old-fashioned sayings that the Storm Lord Aeral’s mate, An Cailleach Bheara, should really pay attention to. She had an affair with her husband’s brother the Sea Lord, and from that union all hell broke lose. And who did she blame? Of course her husband Aeral the Storm Lord. She cursed herself into a mountain side, and cursed Aeral to never find happiness. And so it went for centuries. Now depressed and forlorn, Aeral has ignored his duties of watching over his people, and his cheating brother the Sea Lord Llyr Y Lhuingys Caggee has released a plague on the village. And so it is that a lottery is to be drawn and the girl chosen will be given to the Storm Lord as his bride to end the plague. No other bride has ever lived to tell the tale. The Storm Lord must surely be horrible to gaze upon. Or is he? Aideyn is the Chosen Bride. She goes with trepidation but determination to fulfill her obligation. What she finds is more than anyone could have prepared her for. Her fiancé is gorgeous, generous, and so sad. Like a light lit in the dark, Aideyn brings joy to the Storm Lord. This infuriates the Sea Lord and his former mate Cailleach. Even though they were the cause of all the trouble, selfish beings that they are they set out to destroy the blossoming love between Aideyn and Aeral. Which will be stronger? Spite or love? The author has a gift for drawing pictures with words. I had no trouble envisioning the castle, lands and the people she described. Aeral’s lack of confidence and Aideyn’s pure heart made for an interesting pairing, and their relationship in the bedroom was steaming hot. The side story of Llyr and Cailleach was fun to learn about as well. Add in a Goddess on the side of right and this was a very satisfying trip into fairytale land. - http://www.nightowlromance.com
