Grey is a vampire tired of his barren existence. Long ago, he learned to feed without killing but still he doesn't dare get close to a human. A feisty female being attacked by two males piques his interest and he rescues her. Shannon enthralls him but he knows he shouldn't get involved. Grey burns with desire for her but knows he can't force an immortal existence on her.

Shannon is a cancer survivor but, robbed of her ability to have children, she feels empty inside — barren, worthless, less than a woman. Their souls collide when they make love but she doesn't think he'll want a permanent relationship with her. Grey can have anyone.

Just when she feels whole again, a taste of her blood confirms that her cancer has returned. Grey wants her as his immortal mate but will either survive a vengeance-seeking vampire?

Just when she feels whole again, a taste of her blood confirms that her cancer has returned. Grey wants her as his immortal mate but will either survive a vengeance-seeking vampire? The book was okay but could have been more had the characters been developed a little more and more details provided. Grey and Shannon were an average couple for a H/h. Neither of them inspired my investment in the story. Spoiler: While walking down an alley at night (bad idea) Shannon is attacked by two men who are intent on raping her. She attempts to escape and is flung against a brick wall. Grey, the brooding vampire, comes to her rescuse. After Grey dispatches her attackers, he goes to Shannon's side and looks down at her and takes in her features. He thinks she is unconscious but she is not and she looks up at him and says, "You're a vampire." Not a question...a statement. The author explains her knowledge of vampires and werewolves by providing a cursory explanation of her working for a company that represents them. Her BFF is a also vampire. The story seemed forced and so did the relationship between the H/h. It took no time for the characters to fall into bed. I like a good romance but characters falling into bed on page 3 (figuratively) leaves a lot to be desired and makes me question the strength of the authors writing if they fill the pages with more sex than story. The villain Gregoire was below mediocre. He was more pathetic than ominous. His announcement that he wanted Grey as his sex slave was a bit out of place...especially when Grey was attempting to kill him at the time. The author provided no explanation as to how Shannon knew where Grey was, she just showed up and killed Gregoire by taking his heart. It was so anti-climactic. Grey was a vampire for hundreds of years and yet a fledgling vampire killed his nemesis. It was too unbelievable. And Grey's excessive use of the word "ya" was grating and unecessary. It was not horrible but it was by far NOT the best vampire romance ever.
