Book 2 in the Dance series.

Magnus Thorvald, as strong and stubborn as the oak he carves, steers clear of loose women since his ex-wife's betrayal.

Kat Donaldson, thirty-something free spirit, suburban Philadelphia art gallery owner, and enthusiastic sexclub devotee, meets the first man who won't say yes.

When Kat hears about an obscure artist's uncommon talent, she tracks him down to a rural corner of Bucks County, Pennsylvania, where he lives in a stone barn like a monk. Overwhelmed by the power of his carvings, she offers to represent him. Her blatantly sexy attire warns Magnus away from the tall, willowy redhead even as she ignites unwanted feelings of lust. Despising his body's instant reaction, he turns her down flat.

This only makes Kat more determined—she has a reputation for launching new talent. Plus, the sight of this magnificent Viking, six-five with blond hair and glacier-blue eyes, kicks her libido into instant lust.

When Magnus' irrepressible younger brother agrees to pose nude for Kat's art class, all hell breaks loose as he makes Magnus jealous enough to go after what he wants.

Note: Although this book can be read as a stand-alone, some references are made to characters and situations from Book 1 in the series, Dance of the Seven Veils.

Torn on how to rate this one. I loved the conflict--damaged dominant heroes who do awful things actually work for me. BUT, they have to be sorry for what they've done and they have to earn (or at least ask for!) forgiveness. It would have only needed a sentence or two and I would have been happy (and given 5 stars). On the other hand, if the story wasn't as well written as it was, I wouldn't have cared enough to be mad. And it was hot. Even hotter than the first one, even if the BDSM element (which I usually enjoy) was the better part of what made me mad in this one.

I had been interested to read Kat's story because I liked her character in the first book. However, I didn't like what happens with Magnus and struggled to even finish reading the story. He starts off by calling her a whore. He humiliates her in public and doesn't stop the sexual act when she says no. When there is a misunderstanding he won't listen to her, completely overreacts, leaves to get drunk at a bar and then drives drunk. What a loser. And then after all that she actually follows the jerk still wanting him. What???? I mean really, I had hoped to see Kat end up with a better guy. It's ok if he's a dominate but he doesn't have to be a complete a-hole.
