A night of careless passion and Rose finds herself pregnant. Mark insists on getting married before he goes overseas. Moments after the wedding, Rose is left standing alone before the Justice-of-the-Peace as Mark hurries to catch the plane that will take him to Beirut. Not quite the romantic dream Rose had envisioned, nor did Rose ever dream she would become a widow only months after becoming a bride.

As the smoke clears, a nation sits in shock at the tragic loss of life. Mark's family anxiously awaits news of his fate. Not having been told of his brother's marriage, Dennis Grady stares in disbelief at the phone as he is told that Mark's wife, as next-of-kin, has been notified of his death first.

Dennis goes to Jacksonville, North Carolina. He is shocked to find that not only is the marriage legal but he will soon be an uncle. Never one to shirk his duty, he takes on the role of the brother-in-law. Dennis is well aware that duty often requires sacrifice, but looking into emerald eyes framed with crimson curls, this new responsibility may be above and beyond the call of duty. His heart is not part of the deal.

This book seemed to have far to much research(?) and not enough story. What little story there is, is completely ridiculous and far-fecthed. Another bad point is there are far to many characters, the lead female Rose being one of the most annoying I might add, and sub plots that make no sense. The book didn't seem to flow smoothly in my opinion. When I read the plot I thought it had potential, and I had wanted to read a romance novel written from a mans perspective, just for my own curiosity, I guess I will be careful what I wish for in future. I don't really review items and I hate to give bad ones at that, but this book just wasn't great :(
