A man who refuses to accept captivity. A woman who has lost hope...

When Bethany rescues one of her father's slaves from death, she has no idea she's sealing her own fate. All she knows is that Jess is the most attractive man she's ever met, and the first who has been kind during her difficult life.

After his brush with death, Jess has decided to break free. He's tired of working in the mines, tired of living in fear. And he's tired of living without a woman. He'll do whatever it takes to escape...

Including kidnapping Bethany.

Readers Note: This book takes place within the Saurellian Federation series, but can be read on its own.

I believe Ms. Wylde is one of the better writers of erotic fiction but.... in this case there was a sense of a loss of focus. I think the plot, the character development and sense of adventure was well developed and written. Yet, it was definitely boring in certain sections. You rushed through it because it was tedious. Certainly more editing was needed to remove repeated story lines and just plain ole stupid things. I grew tired of how Jess, while he couldn't live without Bethany, couldn't commit to her. Really how boring as that same storyline is written over and over and over!

This novel was a bit disappointing because, having read the first book in the series I was already aware of what would happen to Jess for a large portion of the story-kind of took the anticipation out of it a bit. The latter half of the book dragged out, but there were quite a lot of parts in the book I did like -enough to keep reading until the end.
