The woman...was a sissy, moronic nitwit who made nothing but idiotic decisions, god I wanted to scream at her so bad. If I was faced with the decision to either testify against a mafia guy and guarantee my death or to go in hiding with the man I love..well it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out which I'd do. Who cares about letting a murderer get away with murder, hello he's part of the mafia so obviously this wasn't his first kill and he's been getting away with it all along. With how the goverment is, you can't be assured of anything. Like I said, she was stupid and just pissed me off, I was really enjoying this book until she opened her mouth and was like 'John, I have to be a good citizen, a pansy butt baby, tattle on a mafia guy and get myself killed. I've read tons of romance novels and this is one of my absolute favorite. where can I find a man like John? this was my first Lisa Marie Rice book, and as soon as I finish this review, I'm going to buy every other single one. update: I just spent the last few days reading the author's other works, including the other Midnight books. I liked them, though with one major reservation - the characters, the plot, the sex (especially the sex) were all pretty much the same. if you read one, you've read them all. her saving grace is how well she writes, its just too bad she seems stuck with the super-alpha-male (ex military or cop), who never has had any emotional attachment to a woman, lust so much after the heroine (who is incredibly beautiful, smart, yadayadayada) that he has no self-discipline, they have sex pretty soon after meeting, they fall in luuuvvvv and they get engaged a week later. throw some conflict in. having read all the stuff she has so far back to back, I noticed that she used certain ideas, thoughts, situations from one book to another.
