After her mother's death, Marissa believes she's alone in the galaxy and is shocked to discover her father, Davo, alive. Unfortunately, he lives on the planet Darinth.

Darinth, known throughout the galaxy for its dominant men and ruthless treatment of women, is not a place for a single woman, especially one as unfamiliar with Darinth as Marissa. Despite her misgivings, she believes Davo's promise of protection and agrees to visit the planet. Unfortunately Davo has rivals and one of them, Kytar, sees Marissa as a tool to increase his power.

Kytar plans a simple kidnapping. He won't hurt Marissa, he'll just hold her until Davo pledges his political support. Kytar uses Darinthian magic to bind Marissa, but didn't count on the magic trapping them both.

Marissa vows she won't surrender to Kytar and challenges the binding. Infuriated, Kytar knows he has to break her defiance before they face the ancient challenge ritual. Failure means death.

He won't fail.

I'm literally forcing myself to finish the book because I purchased it but I'm really not liking the harsh BDSM aspect. I thought there'd be something soft to the story but nope! Walking down a street on your knees in the nude with a collar on and he's pulling you by a leash and that's supposed to be considered sexy? My man wouldn't even want me to do that--and I wouldn't do it for him. The realization is, BDSM is definitely not for me and I think this is my last attempt at reading a book like this. In fact, I don't think I'll finish it. It's really disturbing. I'm sure she's a great author--I just made the wrong choice for my own reading enjoyment.

I liked the book. It was an interesting concept for a storyline. I like the capture and bondage aspect to it but it also had tenderness as the couple did want to be together. However, the couple did not have sex until the end and the bondage scenes were not too heavy. Overall, the book was light with the sex and bondage compared to what others were saying. It may have been men's choice with rituals and being dominant but that was what the planet was about. I think the author stuck to the storyline line quite well and did a good job with the overall generalization and explanations.

This book really did not do anything for me - a complete turn-off, where I really miss just a hint of consent

If you are solely into BDSM for the heat, then this book is for you. Unfortunately, I like my BDSM to be with the submissive's choice. This story does not have that. Marissa is not offered the choice of accepting or rejecting Kytar in the beginning or even the middle of the book. Any choices she makes are uninformed as she is new to the practices of Darinth. I also did not like the the aspects of the challenge. Usually a challenge would be made if the woman did not want to be with the man. In those circumstances, letting the man do whatever he wants with the woman in the guise of 'training', borders (at least to me) on non-consensual. This book was a complete turn-off for me.

I LOVED this book. I was a little worried about the scifi aspect, but it was well done. I would definitely read this again!
