I loved this book as rather than making the guy the reason she gained confidence etc, it was a personal growth- granted he aided in a pretty hot way. Kate is someone that I can completely relate to, and the emotion Kate and Rick feel pours through the words. This book made me want to explore some of my own dark fantasies. I am definitely adding this book to my keeper list and this one story that I am delighted to recommend. ***Chris of Night Owl Romance 4/5 - After meeting Rick just one time, to interview to take care of his farmhouse, Kate is intrigued. Fresh from a horribly messy situation with her soon-to-be ex-husband, Kate is lacking confidence and self-esteem. But as she starts corresponding with Rick via e-mail, she starts to think of him as a friend. And could he be more? After eight months of self-healing, Kate takes charge of herself and when Rick comes back, he better watch out. Having a crisis of his own, Rick is read to quite his job as a DEA agent and make a real life with a real woman: Kate. Unbeknownst to him, Rick’s conquest is more than willing to be caught. Short-term that is. But Rick has decided he wants more with Kate, and he’s going to get it. This was a little slow to start since it was via e-mail, but the author entertained the reader with Kate’s emergence from her depression. While the hero indicated several times he liked her just the way she was, the author still found it necessary for Kate to lose weight, buy a new wardrobe, and generally have a makeover. I was a little disappointed with that aspect of the story. But the rest of the tale was a steamy satisfying read. Ms. Carr turns up the heat with fantasy and reality and before you know it you're breathing hard and in need of a cold shower. More than worth the price.
