Miami socialite Emma Garcia has been running from who she is her entire life. When she witnesses a horrific crime, she goes on the run. In desperation, she answers an ad for a chef on a remote horse farm in the middle of nowhere, Florida. It seems like the perfect plan until she figures out what to do with her secrets. The only thing she doesn’t count on is being attracted to the rugged cowboy who owns the place. Whenever he comes around the only thing she can focus on is his seductive voice and sinful body.

Retired Marine Caleb Ryder hires Emma even though he knows she’s lying about her identity. He desperately needs the help, but he also doesn’t have the heart to turn away a woman so obviously in need. After being burned by a woman once, he doesn’t let that deter his mission to claim Emma’s body and heart.

A NIGHT OWL REVIEWS BOOK REVIEW 4.5 / 5 - Top Pick - Reviewed by: Tigger9 Running From The Past was an amazing read. I absolutely loved it. Emma is on the run and hiding. She does not know what to do just yet but she knows that she is in a lot of trouble. She is just using cash and doesn't want to run out so she applies for the chef job until she can decide what to do next. Caleb knows that she is lying but she is a great chef and he doesn't feel any type of threat from her. They are immediately attracted to each other though they try and ignore it at first. I really enjoyed the characters and the plot line. There were very well written. I really liked the fact that even though Caleb had been burned he does not blame Emma for it. There is quite a bit of action in this story. Men come after her. There is also plenty of focus on the relationship. I liked the way the relationship grew and the way they got to know each other. Emma and Caleb are well matched. The sex is not overly frequent and it is pretty explicit. I enjoyed it and the emotions that were built and already there. I did not want to stop reading or for the story to be over.

completely agree with the comment below, great romance, not so much sexiness, but still really enjoyable

Really enjoyed this book! Recommend it for romance, not so much as hotness. The plot was interesting and believable. Good read all around.
