When Elaina Stevens is viciously attacked by a rogue vampire, she survives only because another vampire intervenes. Rafe is a Night Dweller, sworn to protect humans from the ravages of his own kind, feared creatures known as Dark Wanderers. To protect Elaina, Rafe puts his mark on her and in the process brands her very soul. But Rafe's vows forbid him to touch her again…no matter how much she wants him to.

Then Elaina discovers Thorn, the vampire who attacked her, wishes to repent for his past sins. But the process of bringing a Dark Wanderer back to the light requires a human host—someone willing to be filled with the essence of both vampires at the same time.

To be with the man she loves, Elaina is willing to do almost anything — even act as the host for her most feared enemy. She agrees to accept both Rafe and Thorn in a single night as the mysterious act of sex magick draws the rogue vampire from darkness into light, not knowing what will happen between vampires and human when the Ceremony of Three is over.

Could be better. I did not connect with the characters. Not much romance to it. It was just really in the long run about sex, which did not happen very often, as this was a short read. This all led up to a menage with the vampire that attacked her and she forgave but in the end was a turn off for me.

Hot, steamy, romantic and incredibly erotic. Thorn's redemption and Elaina's acceptance of him was very moving. I would have liked Evangeline to start at the beginning with Thorn's attack on Elaina and her rescue by Rafe. It would have been nice to read about how she fell in love with him and how their relationship developed over the year before Thorn's return. Nevertheless, this is still a powerful and moving story about love, forgiveness and redemption. The cover art rocks too!

Evangeline Anderson takes what would have been a dubious situation, a shy woman in love with an unattainable vampire becoming involved in a menage a trois with another vampire who terrifies her--and makes it work. I initially had my doubts about Elaina's motivations for a threesome with someone who violated her physically, but Ceremony of Three wins you over with a caring hero and a sympathetic heroine who love each other, and a redeeming vampire you will warm to and feel he deserves to be saved from damnation. Elaina has to be coaxed lovingly through quite an elaborate and deliciously detailed ceremony that starts with cleansing, preparation, sex toys, both males "trying out" to see which one fits better where, M/M scenes, and Elaina going for the ride of her life as she bonds herself to the man she loves and finds that in forgiving Thorn and accepting him, her heart also opens to him. The sex scenes are explicit and highly charged. Even though the story opens with the heroine's recalling past events in flashback summary (Thorn's attack of Elaina, Rafe's rescue and Elaina falling for Rafe, all interesting events that are told to the reader instead of being shown), I would have liked to experience how menacing Thorn was and see how Elaina falls for Rafe and his reactions to her. Nevertheless, the writing is extremely strong, the characters are well developed and sympathetic and their motivations believable. The sex scenes are blazing hot and you feel the emotions the characters share as they move forward in their relationships with each other. I highly recommend this very well written book. Anderson did something that's always tough for a writer to do, she sold the concept of the reformed villain in this story. I'm usually irked by former rapists/attackers being forgiven and accepted as lovers by their victims but the story's subplot of redemption and forgiveness was very well done. The erotica was excellent and on par with all of Anderson's offerings. Writing quality could be better but doesn't get in the way of good storytelling. A credit to the paranormal erotic romance genre.
